Suzi Analogue sends us down a synthesized journey around her life, activism and music for Ep.23 of Club Management

For episode 23, I was so excited to have a chance to speak with beat maker, songwriter and educator Suzi Analogue. There’s no one quite like her. She creates songs that transcends boundaries, incorporating a variety of synthesizers and digital production that sends listeners on a joy ride into the future. Suzi toys and tinkers with every genre often pulling sounds from footwork, hip-hop and a little bit of r&b to construct music that’s unique and that makes you move.

Suzi’s been in the game for a minute too. I remember being absolutely enamored in 2012 with her joint project alongside LA beat maker TOKIMONSTA called Analogue Monsta. It was a heavy EP loaded with soulful vocals and faded beats.  It was the perfect introduction for what was to come down the line in Suzi’s music career.

Over the last 8 years, Suzi has thrived as the label boss of Never Normal Records, where she self releases her own music and the sounds of visions of other incredible young producers and artists, like the incomparable Swarvy and Count Bass D who has produced for MF DOOM.  She’s been performing in cities all around the world with her synthesizers in tow and giving back to the youth in Africa and the Netherlands in her production courses. Suzi is an incredible ray of light that uses her music as a tool for leadership, empowerment and change.

In this episode, we talk about everything too, from loving our thirties, self care regimens to black liberation. Suzi also talks about the challenges of running her own label and the ideas and themes behind her latest release the SU CASA EP, a 3 track project that boasts her incredible vocals and is powered by Moog synthesizers and high speed polyrhythms So dive in, listen and get inspired. Me and Suzi’s conversation begins at 4:55.
